FIELD GUIDE / ORIGINAL CONTROLS

Glimmer Run: gaps, coins and shields.

Read the approaching gap before committing the rover to a coin.

Look ahead of the rover’s position

A Glimmer Run attempt has forty-five seconds available and a reserve of three shields. Coins and stones approach through the lane, creating competing reasons to change position. Gather the coins you can reach while protecting enough space to keep the rover clear of incoming obstacles.

Scan the area ahead instead of waiting for an object to reach the rover. A gap can close while you are moving into it, and a hurried sideways correction may solve one collision only to create another. Consider the next few approaching objects as a single arrangement.

Ten-point pickups and a three-shield reserve

The arithmetic is deliberately direct: each coin contributes ten points, and each stone collision takes one shield. Losing the third shield finishes the attempt before the timer expires. Risky steering adds no separate reward, and there are no upgrades that restore the shield reserve.

Let a difficult coin pass when reaching it would trap the rover between stones. The target is a productive run with the resources still available, not a perfect sweep of every object. A clear path can create more collection opportunities later in the same attempt.

Let the chosen gap guide your movement

Use the arrow keys, the displayed direction buttons or pointer positioning within the scene to choose where the rover travels. Once a safe gap is identified, allow the movement to settle. Reversing direction for every newly visible coin can make an otherwise readable route unnecessarily difficult.

Choose Pause to hold the current attempt, then Resume when you are ready to continue it. Restart has a different purpose: beginning a fresh run. Locate both controls beforehand so an intended short break does not accidentally discard the current attempt.

Find the decision behind the finished total

After finishing, compare the coin count with the moments when shields disappeared. A short attempt with several early collisions needs a different adjustment from a full-length run that passed too many reachable coins. The total alone cannot explain which problem occurred.

Give the next attempt one practical aim, such as keeping an open space on one side of the rover. You may retain a personal best when local saving is enabled, but the first useful sign of improvement can be a clearer decision rather than a higher number.
